WHERE ARE WE LOCATED:
Bed X-Stender is proudly based in the charming town of Oviedo, nestled in Seminole County, Florida. Oviedo is known for its unique blend of small-town character and quirky charm—most famously, the free-roaming chickens that wander through its downtown streets. In a humorous twist, these chickens use to gather near the old local Popeyes restaurant, and it's not uncommon for traffic to pause as they strut across the roads. Unfortunately, what some people call progress is decreasing the population. These feathered locals have become beloved town mascots, featured on everything from Oviedo-themed t-shirts and coffee mugs to posters for community events—most notably, the annual "A Taste of Oviedo" festival, which celebrates the town’s culture and culinary flavor.
ABOUT THE OWNER:
Don Stackpole, inventor and owner of Bed X-Stender, has been a specialty contractor in Central Florida for over 45 years. The inspiration for Bed X-Stender came when one of his employees lost a load of crown molding from the back of a pickup truck. When Don asked why he didn’t use the trailer as instructed, the employee replied, “I didn’t feel comfortable pulling the trailer—I’ve never towed one before.” That moment sparked an idea, and just like that, Bed X-Stender was born.
Bed X-Stender is a veteran-owned, family-run business. We proudly train and employ fellow veterans, as well as young men and women who are eager to learn valuable trades like welding and fabrication. Our mission is to help them build skills, grow in their careers, and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
